PuppyLinux: How To Install Applications

1) Run PuppyLinux.

Import PuppyLinux520.ova into your VirtualBox.
Run.
Select Linux (on /dev/sda1)

2) Connect To Internet

Click the Connect Button.
Select Internet by wired or wireless LAN.
Select Simple Network Setup.
Check that your PuppyLinux is connected to the Internet.
Set the connection as default.

3) Browse the Internet

Click the Browse Button.
Select Firefox Web Browser.
Select Firefox Version to be installed.
Wait for QuickPet to finish downloading.
Confirm Installation.
Firefox has been successfully installed.

4) Download and Install Network Analysis Application

Click this link to download Wireshark-1.6.6-i686.pet.
Tell PuppyLinux to open this file using PetGet application.
Wireshark has been successfully installed.

5) Download and install LAMP Package

Click this link to download LAMP-6.16-5.1.35-5.2.9.pet.
Tell PuppyLinux to open this file using PetGet.
Installation done.
Take note that this package does not have a menu entry.
The Web Server and MySQL Server should have started automaticcaly.
Use Firefox Web Browser to test their live pages.
PHPInfo Page, http://localhost 
phpMyAdmin page, http://localhost/phpMyAdmin 
All done.

Alternative Installation Using ISO image

Alternatively, click this link to download the iso file (PupPets.iso) containing the pet files above. This method does not require live Internet connection.
The following OVA contains PuppyLinux 5.2.0 Lucid with Firefox, WireShark and LAMP pre-installed.
